Route: Mesopotamia

This region is not only a historical landmark, they are home to ancient wisdom, mystical teachings, and artistic heritage.

For millennia, Mesopotamian civilizations cultivated a profound connection with the sun. More than just a source of light, the sun was seen as the cosmic regulator, the embodiment of wisdom, and the symbol of justice. Many cultures revered the sun as a divine force. Shamash, Utu, and Mithra were worshiped as deities representing sun therefore; justice, truth, and the eternal cycle of life.

In ancient Mesopotamia, temples, palaces, and cities were constructed in alignment with the sun’s movement. Ziggurats were positioned to capture the sunrise and sunset, ensuring that divine shadows fell in perfect harmony at sacred moments of the day. The solstices were considered pivotal. For the Sumerians, the daily rising of the sun symbolized the endless renewal of life and knowledge.

As the final ritual at Zerzevan Castle unfolds at sunset, it will serve as a reminder of this ancient cosmic link.
